Our School
Developing tomorrow’s leaders.
Named after a Mexican-American hero, Primitivo Garcia, Primitivo Garcia Elementary School is a diverse neighborhood school that serves students from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. We are in our second year of implementing “The Leader In Me” program. This program is based on the principles of The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People developed by Steven Covey. The purpose of this grant is develop leadership skills in all students by showing them their worth, potential and positive contributions to the school.
Meeting the needs of all learners.
It is the belief of Primitivo Garcia Elementary School that we are a community of learners. School is a safe place where everyone comes together to promote learning. Teachers work together as a team and serve as instructional and life mentors to our students. Families are essential partners in this relationship and this relationship is strengthened through active participation.
Our community partners are a vital part of the school as they help to educate and meet the needs of children. Some of our partners include Mattie Rhodes, KC Hispanic News, Score One for Health, Ruiz Public Library, Tony Aguirre Community Center, KC Lead to Read, William Jewel College and The Literacy Lab. These partners offer students valuable relationships with caring adults and other opportunities that the school would not be able to provide without their support.
